Microsoft hires key Apple engineer to design server chips – Bloomberg Information

Microsoft Corp employed a key Apple Inc engineer to design its personal chips for its servers, Bloomberg Information reported on Wednesday, citing individuals with information of the matter.

The software program big employed chip business veteran Mike Filippo, who labored for Apple for over two years, the report stated.

Microsoft is engaged on in-house processors for the servers operating its cloud-computing companies and Floor line of private computer systems, a supply advised Reuters in December 2020.

The cloud computing heavy-weight depends closely on Intel and Superior Micro Units Inc to provide chips for its Azure cloud computing companies in addition to Floor PCs.
